Pretty Little Birdies

I haven't done a decorating post in a loooooooong while... thought it was about time to lighten things up around here!

What do ya do when you can't decorate your house (because you don't have one)?
You decorate other people's houses! Or your church!

Here is a peek at a project I've been working on:

I saw these outdoor tiles in a Crate & Barrel catalogue and was smitten, but not willing to pay the price of $50 for the set. So, I decided to try my hand at painting and see what would happen! Hey, as long as I'm not trying to sell the imitations, it's alright, right?
Gee, I hope so.

I heart birdies in a big way! I would even own one, but would probably be disowned by my husband if I did. I even tamed a baby parakeet when I was younger!

Okay, back to the project.
I love the green used in the above set, but it just wouldn't do on a sage green wall (which is what I have to work with), so I opted for a purple tone (which is another color in the room).

Here are my pre-birdie canvases...

It's hard to see, but there is a rose glitter glaze over the top of the purple to mute it a bit.

And here are my canvases, all pretty like, with silver birdies!

Don't think I'm "all that" yet! I did have to look at the picture quite a bit and draw it with a pencil first. I was worried that my birds would look like mutants and my twigs like spaghetti.

Mister curious thinks he's helping.

Pretty little thangs!

I only spent $16 on the canvases and $4 on the paint. Overall, I like these better anyway. Shhh, don't tell Crate & Barrel
.

Did I mention that I love birds?

I'll show y'all the finished room, well, when it's finished!
